"Although the shows portray a more ex-. citing job than what it usually is, the image does create respect for the officer," said Linda Steinman, Lincoln Police Dept. . (LDP) internal investigator. Patt David said most of her jobs as school resource officer involves public re lations. I; -consists of being a "sort of novelty" school resource officer, she said, because she is the only woman in that division. jobs David said she concentrates on the ten Lincoln junior high schools, often conduc ting classroom presentations on police work. . , Some officers also teach mini-courses unrelated to police work, she said. Officers agreed - that LPD is improving its hiring of women to the force. However, all said they thought they were hired to avoid a lawsuit.
