NU administrators Monday again will testify before the
Appropriations Committee; this time, in response to Gov.
J. James Exon's NU budget proposal.
The governor's bill offers $84 million, compared to the
committee's bill, which offers $88 million. However,
Exon's bill offers the NU Board of Regents greater flexi
bility in spending by specifying fewer appropriations:
Central Administration, Campus Operations (UNL, the
University of Nebraska at Omaha and the University of
Nebraska Medical Center) and cash and other nontax
funds. The bill also includes a general fund appropriation
of $ 1 .4 million for a regents' discretionary fund.
The committee also will hear testimony on a resolu

expenditures from the replacement of surplus fund of the
University of Nebraska Student Fees and Facilities Reve
nue Bonds.
Money to be spent would include $680,450 for fire
f and safety maintenance on the Nebraska Union, housing
units and the University Health Center. The resolution
