Auditions, contests
search for talent
By Charlie Krig
Here are some golden opportunities for all of you who
ye "bursting" with talent:
The Lincoln Community Playhouse needs five or six
men and women for their next Gallery Theatre produc
tion, The World of Carl Sandburg. Auditions are tonight
and Tuesday at 7:30 pjn. at the Playhouse, 2500 S.
56th St. Specificly needed is a singer-guitarist; applicants
are urged to bring an instrument and do a little
strumming. Any one interested in doing technical work
(lights, props, sets, etc.) also is invited to attend an
audition.
Those with a playwriting talent can enter the
Bicentennial Playwriting Contest sponsored by the
Nebraska State. Repertory Company, Norton Theatre,
520 S. 10th St., Omaha, 68102. Write to that address for
application forms and more information.
Contest requirements are: (1) The play must be
original and unpublished; (2) it must be full-length, and
(3) it must deal with America's history or examine our
present and future values.
Those who do not fit into one of the above categories
can find solace in the upcoming Worlds of Fun
auditions. The Kansas City amusement park needs singers,
dancers, actors, comedians, magicians and variety acts.

"......the most spectacular example of agit-prop
moviemaking so far an emotional assault....highly
sophisticated (and) conceived on an epic scale...'..
A movie like this is a gun in a struggle, and a far more
effective gun than Godard's revolutionary movies,
because though it may aim at both the heart and the
mind, it strikes the heart."
