The Faculty Senate Scholarships and Financial Aids Committee decided Jan. 13 to "pursue all ways" of get ting the Academic Excellence scholarships financed, according to committee member Dewaine Alcorn. The 10 Academic Excellence scholarship recipients would receive $2,000 plus tuition for two years, renew able upon satisfactory progress, according to the scholar ship proposal presented to the Faculty Senate in Decem ber. Currently there are two alternatives to get the money, he said. "First we can try to get capital funding," Alcorn said, "That is, funds raised for capital improvement. The chan cellors (of UNL, the University of Nebraska at Omaha and the University of Nebraska Medical Center) are making up lists of needs and we are trying to get on that list." If financing came from this area, the money would not be available for two years as the request would be chan neled through the NU Board of Regents and require the approval of the Nebraska Legislature before allocation, he said. The second alternative is to request financing from the NU Foundation, he said. The money could be available in one year if obtained. Six weeks ago no funds were available for these scholarships, said Herb Potter, corporate secretary for the NU Foundation. The Foundation now gives the impression that the re quired money can be solicited from out-of-state sources, said Foster G. Owens, UNL animal science professor and committee chairman. yr Incredible V 10Off Everything l it 50 - 10Off Everything 20 Off ChUdren's Books Many children's lit. texts 40 off All overstocked und damaged books 70 Off on Specials Jan. 15-24 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. n 204 N. 13th VOLUNTEERS' TO HELP OUT AT THE UNION'S WINTER ' WALPURGISNACHT Jan. 30, 1976 REQUIREMENTS: Attend a one-hour trainina meeting during the week prior to the event Work for approximately 2 hours during the 8-hour event (a variety of jobs available).
