friday, december 12, 1975 daily nebraskan page 23 Testimony in student misdemeanor case continues Court proceedings will continue Jan. 14 in the case of Regina Edington, a 20-year-old UNL student charged with two mis demeanor counts of assault and battery. Edington allegedly was involved in scuf fles with UNL student Jeff Quackenbush and Campus Police officer Ron Lundy, Oct. 15 in the Nebraska Union. , Quackenbush testified in Lancaster County Court Thursday that he entered the union at 4 psn. that day with UNL stu dent Kelly Dotson through the north revol ving doors. Quackenbush said he "helped push the doors," while Edington was walking through the same door. As soon as he passed Edington, she asked him, 'What's the hurry?' He proceed ed up the stairs and when they both reached the top, he said Edington started yelling, threw down her books, and said. Are you laughing at me?'." Struck face Quackenbush said he was "inside the raj on the stairs inside the Union when bdington came up and struck him in the lace. He said although he tried to cover his lace, a few blows hit his face. Quackenbush then testified he grabbed her hands, she broke the hold, struck him in the nose, and he slapped her. Quackenbush, who said he was bewil dered through most of the incident, said he first thought that Edington was a 14 or 15-year-old male. Witness Catherine Brooks, a Union em- Final exam times ploye, said Edington and Quackenbush were standing about five feet from the desk and Edington was shouting obscenities and swinging her arms at Quackenbush. Brooks said Edington was slapping and jabbing at Quackenbush and made the first blow by striking Quackenbush. Identified jacket She identified Edington as wearing a brown jacket and blue jeans, which con flicted with other testimony in which Edington was identified as wearing a blue jacket. Under cross examination, Brooks changed her testimony and said she did not see Edington strike Quackenbush. - Judith Simynoe, a UNL student who was working at one of the booths in the north lobby, testified that she, like Quackenbush, was under the initial impres sion that both parties involved were male. She said both Quackenbush and Eding ton were yelling and that Quackenbush seemed to be trying to calm Edington. Simynoe said Quackenbush kept saying, "I'm sorry" and trying to walk away. Edington began swinging her arms and try ing to hit him, Simynoe said, while Quack enbush was fending off blows. She said she did not see Quackenbush and Edington strike each other and did not notice blood on either person. Officer Lundy, who was involved in an incident with Edington, will render testi mony Jan. 14 along with several other witnesses.
