New members were introduced at a Phi Beta Kappa banquet where Sen. Richard Marvel spoke on 'The Intellectual in Politics," and Stanley Vandersall, UNL professor of classics, spoke on the history of UNL's Phi Beta Kappa chapter. Phi Beta Kappa members are chosen in the spring and the fall, said Janet Jensen, Phi Betta Kappa secretary. They must have fulfilled requirements for the College of Arts and Sciences, though they do not have to be graduated from that college, she said. Those elected are chosen on basis of academics, she said, and come from the top five to ten per cent of the graduating class. New Phi Beta Kappa members, their parents, hometowns, majors and career plans are: Marguerite Ann Boslauch. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Boslaugh, Lincoln, mathematics, to work in actuarial sciences for Connecticut General Life Insurance, Co. James P. Clark, son of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Clark, Lincoln, psychology, currently enrolled in University of Chicago Law School. Victor E. Covalt III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor E. Covalt, Alliance, history, plans a civil service career. Barbara Glen, daughter of Mr. Carl M. Glen, Lincoln, outdoor recreation, plans a career with forest service or in outdoor education. Steve G ruber, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert G ruber, Omaha, university studies, linguistics, plans to enter graduate school. Jeannene Hansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hansen, North Platte, art with emphasis in photography, plans to enter a career in photography. Kathryn Susanne Keller Hurtz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Keller, Blue Springs, psychology and speech pathology, plans to work towards a M.A. in speech pathology at the University of Houston. Pamela G. Johnson, Lincoln . Jay Ben Kreimer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon R. Kreimer, Lincoln, English. Mrs. Jerri Nichols Krutak, Lincoln, English, will enter UNL Graduate College in January. Joyce Lallman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burnell Lallman, Arlington, psychology, to work in social services field. Rita Ann McConnell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Vincent McConnell, Omaha, english, will enter law school. Vicki Lynn Nissen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Nissen, Miller, S.D., pre -medicine, will go to medical school. Loma Lynn Rex, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley John Bosa, Columbus, Spanish, presently enrolled in UNL College of Law. Wendy L. Reitmeier, -daughter of Mr. .and Mrs. William F. Reitmeier, Scribner, urban studies, to study urban planning at Columbia University Graduate School. Richard Irwin Robertson, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Robertson, Lincoln, social work, will do graduate work in community planning and development. Gail Marie Sieck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis B. Sieck, Lincoln, economics, plans a career in economic research. Joleen Kim Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Wayne Smith, Elkhorn, french, currently is teaching high school french in Omaha. James M. Steckelberg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell D. Steckelberg, Fremont, mathematics and computer science, will attend graduate school. Barbara Jane Treakle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Treakle, York, social welfare. Gayle Waggoner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. L Waggoner, Columbus, Ohio, currently is working in Sao Iiuz, Brazil.
