Exon gives $100 to band

until Dec. 19, but vouchers will be issued

Gov. Exon's administrative assistant
presented the marching band with $100 on
the governor's behalf at a press conference
called Tuesday morning to announce the
fund-raising campaign.
"We think we can raise the money the
band needs by Friday," King said.
The foundation has received $24,362
so far in its fund raising drive, according to
Ed Hirsch, NU Foundation vice president.
"Response has been very heartening,"
Hirsch said Tuesday. "If people continue
(contributing) the way they are, it looks
very favorable that well reach our goal."
People or organizations contributing
$1,000 or more will receive a photograph
of their ! name spelled out in band
formation on the Memorial Stadium
astroturf, Band Director Robert Fought
said in a press release last Friday.
Hirsch said $1,000 donations have been
received from the Knights of Ak Sar Ben,
the Omaha World-Herald, Fleischer
Company of Columbus, O'Keefe Elevator
Company and McFayden Ford of Omaha.
A former band member and 1959 NU
graduate, Dr. George B. Eagleton, tele
phoned from New York City with a
$1,000 pledge Tuesday afternoon,
according to Hirsch.
The Hastings Equity Grain Bin Manu
facturing Company offered $25 for each
letter in their name, totaling $1,050
Hirsch said.
He said NU President D. B. Vamer had
received a $3,000 donation from an
anonymous donor.
Hirsch said a contribution also has been
received from Pound Hall residents.
