The organization is part of the school program, under the guidance of business teachers, state supervisors, school administrators and businessmen and women. The purposes of Phi Beta Lambda are: To develop competent, aggressive business leadership. To strengthen the confidence of men and women in themselves and their work. -To create more interest and under standing in the intelligent choice of bus iness occupations. To encourage men and women in the development of individual projects and in establishing themselves in business. To encourage young persons to im prove the home and community. To participate in worthy undertakings for the improvement of business and the community. To develop character, prepare for use ful citizenship, and foster patriotism. To participate in cooperative efforts. To encourage improvement in scholar ship and promote school loyalty. To improve and establish standards for entrance into business occupations. Included among the plan3 for PBL mem bers this year are a tour of Quick Copy, a printing business in Lincoln; preparation of exhibits in Lincoln department stores; a conference with Lincoln businessmen; sponsorship and competing at the state convention to be held April 1 and 2 in Norfolk. In addition to attending meetings and conferences, members of UNL's PBL chapter will conduct fund-raising drives; volunteer to help organizations, such as the March of Dimes, Salvation Army and the Cancer Society; visit high schools through out Nebraska, encouraging them to start chapters in the Lincoln area to charter chapters of Phi Beta Lambda. Other project being conducted by the PBI members at the university is improve ment of the library at the Nebraska Penal Complex. Letters are being sent to the heads of the various departments at the university and area colleges, asking teachers within the departments to donate books to the complex library in their honor.
