The show was devised and directed by Terry Hands, with music arranged and composed by Martin Best. The production, performed in a readers' theater format, was an anthology of poetry and prose from the great writers of romantic literature. Works included were A Description of Love by Sir Walter Raleigh, which both opened and closed the show; selections from the Pickwick Papers by Dickens; "Satisfaction" by the Rolling Stones; parts of The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde; A Young Wife by D. H. Lawrence; Love Letter by Keats and "Norwegian Wood" by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. The collection's first half traced the idea of love from birth, and a child's love for his mother, to marriage, and a man's love for a woman. The second act explored love's pain and bitterness in cases ranging from adultery to death. Cast members were David Suchv't, who has appeared with the Royal Shakespeare Comprny for three years and who will teach for a semester at UNO next year; Bill Homewood, who provided music for the production and received his training at England's Guildhall School of Music; Lynette Davies, who trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London and has performed many leading roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company; and Hugh Sullivan, who attended the London Academy of Musical and Dramatic Art.
