The bags are used to collect urine -samples to test results of the department's experiments. "We have been doing food studies since the '30s," said Mazel Fox, chairman of the Food and Nutrition Dept. The department also receives grants from the federal government and businesses, Kies said. The current experiment is testing the effect of fiber on zinc, Fox said . "We think zinc may be low in our diet," she said. Kies said the results will be published and levels of zinc in food will be recommended.
