Wednesday, October 15, 1975 daily nebraskan page 3 Law College dean retires to return to teaching post College of Law Dean Henry Crether announced Monday at a law faculty meet ing his plans to step down as dean and return to teaching. "Ten years in the administrative position is enough," Grether said . Saying he enjoys teaching, Grether said he will continue to teach a class in Wills, Trusts and Future Interests, "A lot of the courses I taught ten years ago have become obsolete," Grether said, adding that he will look for more courses to teach depending on the areas of law study in which teachers are needed. "I wouldn't trade UNL College of Law faculty for any in the country" he said. The East Campus College of Law bldg. was a major accomplishment for himself and his faculty, Grether said. Other changes brought about since Grether became dean in 1966 include: -financing of S50J0OO from the Joyce Foundation in Chicago last week enabling the law school to buy closed circuit tele vision equipment. -curriculum changes, including the incorporation of summer sessions which enable a student to graduate in two and one half years instead of three years. -incorporation of joint degree system. -initiation of a program in which law school courses are taught to local high school students. -formation of the clinical practice program which enables senior law students to appear in court and actually practice law under the supervision of a lawyer. Grether, 55, joined the NU faculty as a part-time law instructor in 1948, and became a full professor in 1957. Grether, who will step down from his position as dean,. at the end of this academic year, holds bachelor of arts and juris doctorate degrees from the University of Utah and a masters degree in law from the Universtiy of Minnesota. Interim UNL Chancellor Adam Breckenridge urged law faculty members at Monday's meeting to choose a small search committee no later than Nov. 1 to select a new dean for the College of Law. Folklorist and UNL associate English prof;ssor Roger Welsch will give the morning speech "Where is Nebraska's Valley Forge? A Plains Perspective of the Bicentennial". Welsch has done extensive work, on folklore history in Nebraska and has written several books on Nebraska heritage. Mabel Skjelver, associate professor in the Department of Textiles, Clothing and Design, will present a program on historic Nebraska homes. . v Homemaker's Day is open to any Nebraska homemaker.
