Changed class scheduling at the IMvr
sity of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) has
eased parking aad oercrowding problems,
Assistant Provost Elaine Hess said.
"It would have been utter chaos, if
UNO had not instigated these changes,"
Hess said.
Classes now start at 7 ajn. and begin
every hour. Last year classes began at 7:30
a.m. and started on the half hour. Hess said
many freshman- and sophomore-level class
es were moved to late afternoon.
The change was designed to relieve the
mid-morning rush, she said. Last year,

campus at 7:30 asn. About 2,400 students
are on campus at 8 sjn. litis year, and in
late afternoon and evening classes, where
enrollment has increased, Hess said.
Last spring the faculty members were
concerned about the proposed changes be
cause they thought it might decrease en
rollment, Hess said. However, enrollment
has increased from 14,200 to 15,021.
Hess said the scheduling change has not
caused an increase in operating expenses.
