Chamber Music
Concert series
Presenting concerts by four Israeli and European
ensembles and the Nebraska Chamber Orchestra, the
Lincoln Friends of Chamber Music's 1975-76 concert series
holds promise of pleasing even the most discriminating
lovers of classical music.
The first concert in the series, Oct. 17, presents the
Glinka Quartet, a Soviet ensemble which has attracted good
notices in its homeland and Europe, although it is not well
known in this country. One of Beethoven's late quartets,
op. 13 1 in C sharp Minor, will be featured
The second concert, Nov. 22, will be presented by the
Nebraska Chamber Orchestra, now in its second year. The
Orchestra received critical acclaim for its first series per
formance last year.
The third event, Jan. 16, will star the Secolo Barocco,
a five-man French Baroque ensemble. The program will
include works of Vivaldi, Rameau, J.C. Bach, Josef Haydn
and Loeillet and Devienne, performed on harpsichord,
bassoon, oboe, violin and flute.
The fourth event presents the Tel Aviv Quartet, a group
originally scheduled for last year's season. The Quartet's
plans were altered by the unexpected Yom Kippur War,
On Feb. 14, the quarter will perform with Yona
Etthnger on clarinet, which will enable them to perform

performing works by Beethoven, Mozart and Bartok. Three
Austrians and one Briton in the quartet have played
together professionaly since 1948, and have since become
known as possibly the greatest string quarter playing today.

Auditorium except the Nebraska Chamber Orchestra
concert, which will be in Kimball Recital Hall. Admission
is by subscription, although a few individual tickets will be
available before each performance.
