CSL supports Athletic Dept. football ticke
t policy
The Council on Student Life (CSL)
went on record Thursday supporting the
Athletic Depths current policy concerning
lost football tickets.
As reported to George Wolf, CSL mem
ber, by Jim Pittenger, UNL ticket manager,
"the current policy states no replacement
tickets will be issued for, lost tickets.
This same policy applied for faculty
and students CSL chairman, Lyle Young,
said.
However, a one-time pass to a game will
be issued, at Pittengei's discretion, to give
the holder an opportunity to see if his
ticket is being used. An attempt could then
be made to reclaim the ticket.
Ron G'ierhan, CSL member and Co
ordinator of Student Conduct Referrals,
said he thought it would be difficult to
come up with any rational position other
than the one the Athletic Dept. now has.
"You have to assume that the ticket
still exists. It's a useful commodity and
there's enough student native intelligence
out front to use it," he said.
The Athletic Dept. has tried other sys
tems concerning lost football tickets, Wolf
said. A few years ago lost tickets were re
placed, he said. However, because that
policy was abused the department resorted
to a second policy where a student who
had lost his ticket could buy another one.
This policy was also abused, according to
Pittenger,so they began the present policy,
. CSL also invited Bob Devaney, UNL
Athletic Director and Pittenger to attend a
future meeting and answer questions coi
cerning their policies. This would include
discussing increasing the cost and trans
ferability of football tickets and the design
and advisibility of having an advisory com
mittee to the Athletic Dept. to increasing,
student input.
CSL also plans to invite Kenneth
Hubble, director of the University Healthy

A CSL study group to study commit
tees on campus reported their progress.
A questionaire sent to aH college-level
committees, asked the committee's origin
and purpose, who serves on it and the type
of committee it is (ad hoc, task force, sub
committee), according to Dan Stelier,
CSL member.
The original purposes for the study
group were to see if duplication of
committees existed and to distribute infor
mation sheets as to what committee were
on campus, SteEer said.
