The new East Campus climbing wall
will officially open Saturday ; when the
UNL Recreation Dept. sponsors a climbing
seminar at 9 ajn.
Featured ; speaker will be Joe
O'Laughlin, coordinator of the outdoor
program at Colorado University and co
designer of the wall.
The seminar will include demonstrations
and practice, of climbing techniques as well
as discussion on the opportunities and
values of climbing. ,
Climbing opportunities for UNL
students increased last week with the
discovery of a closer climbing area near
Oarretson S.D., 15 miles northeast of
Sioux Falls, according to Mark Ebel,"
UNL outdoor recreation director.
"Before, the closest climbing area to
UNL was 500 miles away in the foothills
of the Black Hills. The quartzite rock
formation is only 250 miles away and will
be used for a climbing' trip later in the
semester '." .
UNL's cross country team dropped a 17-44
dual to Wisconsin Saturday at Pioneer
Park.

The UNL Women's rugby team will hold
an organizational meeting Tuesday from
5 to 6 p.m. at the Ed Weir outdoor track.
All women interested are asked to

The men's UNL rugby team defeated
Simpson College Saturday 30-0.
After winning their first game' 15-2,
the UNL women's volleyball team dropped
the next two 10-15 and 14-16 to lose a
dual with Midland College., of Fremont
Saturday.

Participating in the team's first
tournament ever, the UNL women's golf
team placed sixth in the 15-team women's
golf invitational at Iowa State Friday and
Saturday. Nan Circo shot a two-day total
'"of 164 to place sixth individually and lead
the five-women Nebraska team-.
