Wednesday, September 17, 1975 daily nebraskan page 7 m Pre-law organization to help 'get students on track' 'The first year, they scare you to death. Tfie second year, they work you to death. The third year, they bore you to death" old law school saying The next class of freshmen law students at the NU Col lege of Law still might have the fear of professional school injected into their blood, but an infant organization of pro spective law students might lessen the sting. The Prospective Law Students' Association, a newly formed group, will help ease the transition from under graduate to law student, chairman Jim Curtiss said. ,We plan on concerning ourselves with how to get into law school, whether to go and how to survive after being accepted," Curtiss said. "When new students enter the school, they already will have some degree of camaraderie." Curtiss is a senior majoring in English and Political Science at UNL. " About 175 students attend the group's organizational meeting Sept. 8, he said. The association isn't only intended for students who are planning to attend the NU College of Law, but for those going to any law school, Curtiss said. He added that he plans to apply to the NU College of Law as well as other law schools. The group now is in the process of being recognized by UNL as a student organization, pending the presentation of a constitution to AS UN, he said. After being formally re cognized, Curtiss said, they .will apply for funding from student fees. ' ' Curtiss said he first thought of starting a group for pro spective law students last summer. He then consulted with Don Shaheyfelt, assistant dean of the NU College of Law, who favored the idea. "I felt there was a real need for an organization of this type," Curtiss said. "ItH help put pre-law students on the right track." Although the group is primarily concerned . with stu dents planning on going to law school, Curtiss said grad uates also will receive help with the problem of finding a job. ATTENTION ALL HOME ECON.
