page 8 daily nebraskan mo'nday, September 8, 1975 Courses may not always cover bar examination CCiOftOGf Continued from p. I Legal Education, said that Nebraska has a comparatively low failure rate. Fourteen per cent failed the June exam. For example, 50 per cent of the students taking the exam in Massachusetts fail, he said. Although Grether pointed out that the Nebraska Supreme Court distributes a list of subjects covered on the exam, he said he . has learned from students that a new ques tion on federal taxation, which students claimed is not taught at UNL was on the last exam. But John North of Omaha said commis sion members reviewed the school's" cur riculum before adding new subjects to the exam. Grether said he thinks this is part of the problem that has caused student dissatisfaction about the exam-the Law College is not always notified of needed courses in time for all students to take them. Even so, Ricketts said students can take short courses on unfamiliar subjects. Although Crump said he believes UNL does teach all subject matter covered on the exam, he said a student cannot take all of the courses. Because of the many areas of law, students must depend on their chosen curriculum and independent stjidy in preparing for the exam, Crump said. Prokes, who plans on a January exam date, said from what he has heard, the exam sounds fair. Prokes said he also thought that preparation for the exam is largely "independent study and a lot of hard work." He pointed out UNL's lack of a bar review course, saying that a general law education such as UNL's might cause discrepancy on the Nebraska bar , exam, which covers Nebraska law. r ? Even so, Berger said Nebraska has been "credited with having been too easy an exam," and that the passing rate was "high." Berger added that he has a "very good rapport" with law students and helps as much as possible when they come to him. 8 a.m.-5 p.m.-Schoo! of Basic Bank tag-Nebraska Center for Continuing Edu cation (NCCE) 8:30 a.m. -4 p.m. Community Involve ment Services interviews-Nebraska Union 225. 10:30 a.m. Business Education 120 --' Union Auditorium. 11:30 a.m. Psychology Dept. - lunch , eon Union Pewter Room. 1 p.m. Vocational Education Dept. -Union 222. : 2 p.m.- Health Education - P.E. 101 instructors - Union 216. 3 p.m. Career Action Commission -Union 203. 3 . p.m.-Health Education majors Union 232. 5:30 p.m. Towne Club pledges - Union 343.
