Writing practice to Students who have trouble expressing themselves in writing can find help in a new class being offered this fall. A class which will help develop writing skills is being organized by the UN-L School of Journalism in cooperation with the Teaching and Learning Center. "We don't view these courses as remedial," said Gene Harding, director of the Teaching and Learning Center. "They are being designed to help pinpoint students writing problems and help them correct these problems." Jim Patten, journalism associate professor and coordinator of the classes, said, "We are going to try to take people who are having trouble . with writing, and with practice hope that they can develop a writing ability that will help them with school in general." Help in testing Writing skills developed in the class should help students not only in writing English papers, but in taking tests and writing papers for other classes, Patten said. Three sections of the class will be offered through the extension division and will be taught by graduate students In journalism. . ' "When we saw what good qualifications applicants for our graduate program had we decided to use them as instructors," said Neale Copple, director of the School of Journalism.
