Insight is exactly what the
University of Nebraska
Lincoln's New Student
Orientation ' Program is
designed to giv -insight into
academic, social and personal
questions.
The program is for ail
freshman or transfer students
planning to attend UN-L for
the first time this fall, their
parents, guests and school
representatives. -
The series of one-day
' sessions began Wednesday,
June 4 and ends Wednesday,
July 2, There will be two
Saturday sessions on June 14
. and 28, but no Monday session
on June 30.
The sessions will include
skits, small group discussions,
talks and presentations by
students and faculty members,
individual appointments with
any of nine advisors, tours of
the campus and 15
mini-sessions. The mini-sessions
are n; 15 minute programs
designed by 14 student hosts
on such topics as: recreation,
financial aid, organizations and
activities, health services,
educational facilities and
housing.
Fourteen University of
Nebraska-Lincoln students
have been selected ' to
participate as Student Hosts
during the New Student
Orientation Program being held
on campus this summer.

Luncheon to cite
teachers' service
Two Nebraska educators will be honored by the UN-L
Department of Secondary Education at a June 25th luncheon in
the Nebraska Unon.
On educator, Fred Wilhelms, will be receiving the Norm
Thorpe Service Award named in honor of the former assistant dean
of the UN-L Teachers College who ended over a decade in that
position in 1972. Wilhelms, former executive secretary of the
National Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development,
will be the fourth recipient of the annual award. The award goes to
"the" educator who exemplifies outstanding service and excellence
in secondary education," according to Ward Sybouts, chairman of
the Secondary Education Department.
Another educator. Dale Snook, UN-L assistant professor of
physical education and recreation, will retire this summer and wi!l
be cited t ths luncheon for his 28 years of University service.
The luncheon is open to interested persons and costs $4.50.
Additional information may ba obtained from the Secondary
Education Department office, Room 104 Henzlik Hall on the
UN-L campus.

beginning course in the
techniques of glassblowing.
Six two-hour sessions for
$3.60. First weekly session is

YOGA-Six one-hour

GUITAR-lnstruction in
using a pick, as well as chord
instruction. Ten one-hour
sessions begin on Wednesday,
June 25. Classes for beginners

one-day sessions per family is

arranged.

techniques of karate. Ten
one-hour sessions begin
Saturday, June 21. . Weekly
classes are $3.50.
GLASSBLOWING Basic
techniques of glassblwoing.
Ten two-hour sessions meet
weekly. Cost is $7.00.
Beginning and advanced classes
begin on Friday, June 20.
CERAMICS-A variety of
techniques in glazing,, staining
and decorating. Fee includes
firing and. instructions.
Two-hour sessions. Cost for six
weeks is $4.20; for 10 weeks is
$7.00, Classes begin Thursday,
June 19.
MACRAME-Knot tying in
rope and twine. Classes begin
on Tuesday, June 24 for
weekly two-hour sessions. Cost "
is $3.60.
GRILL COOKER Y-Learn
to cook a complete meal on
the grill. Alt food will be
provided and you get to eat
what you cook. Two two-hour
sessions, no charge. Enrollment
is limited. Classes are . on
Tuesday and Thursday from
6:30 p.m. on June 17 and 19,
24 and 26, July 15 and 17 or
July 22 and 24.
