ETV interviews 'Wishnow Srnot(ing clinic snoyvn 27. ' . Two programs will be of special interest to UN-L students scheduled for viewing on the Nebraska ETV. Network this week. After 42 years of teaching and making unique music 'at UN-L, Professor ' Emanuel Wishnow will retire this July. Some of the highlights of his long and distinguished career as a professional musician, teacher, and administrator are discussed during the special program, "A Conversation with Emanual Wishnow," Wednesday, June 18, at 8 p.m. on the Nebraska ETV Network. Ron Hull, program manager of the Network ard Lincoln Symphony board member, talks with Mr. Wishnow about his experiences as director of x the School of Music from 1958 to 1972, his reign as conductor of the University Symphony Orchestra since 1941 and his career as professor of violin which began in 1951. When Wishnow became director of the School of Music , his dream of improved teaching facilities became a reality with the development of a $3.5 million music comp'ex including Westbrook , Music Building and Kimball Recital Hall, which were completed in 1967 and 1970. "A very significant point in my teaching career was when internationally known artists such as Sidney Harth, Eugene List and Leonard Rose, among others, played with the University Symphony in the early 40's. Bringing in such fine musicians seemed to help the students gain greater professionalism," Mr Wishnow says during the program. Help for heavy smokers who would like to break the smoking hebit will again be offered Nehraskans when the Nebraska ETV Network broadcasts the special telecast cf "The Five-Day Plan to Stop Smoking" beginning Monday, June 23 at 7:30 p.m. and continuing the same hour each evening through Friday, June Theatre schedule set (Continued from pg. 4) marriage-go-round does not end here as mates have second thoughts about who should be married to whom. J caos BYOt IUH ll" MuM.-.-rl, M iiTir em Sessions were held in the Nebraska ETV Network studios on five consecutive afternoons in August 1 974, when a group went through the nationally recognized Seventh-day Adventist Five-Day Plan to Stop Smoking. Dennis Meyers, project director of the Lincoln Five-Day Plan Clinic, takes the group through the rigorous control program.-According to Meyers, approximately 80 percent of those who enter the plan stop smoking at the end of the five sessions and an estimated 60 percent continue to stay away from cigarettes entirely. The June broadcasts of the Five-Day Plan will again feature phone-in service during each program. Nebraska ETV viewers will be able to call collect for information. Viewers will not be heard on air. The special telephone number will be shown on the screen during the programs. Viewers will be able Jo follow the Five-Day Plan along with the participants in the actual sessions. The Five-Day Plan control booklet used by participants is available to viewers in a S3 packet. Included with it will be selected pamphlets and a list of other Seventh-day Adventist clinics in Nebreska and names of persons who will be willing to help viewers wishing to follow the Five-Day Plan to Stop Smoking.
