i mm I Keyboard reqital featured Sunday ' An All-State Organ Recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 22, in Kimball Recital Hall will be a program of instruction ss well as entertainment according to one of the performers. Quentin J. Faulkner, UN-L assistant professor of organ and music theory, said he ami George H. Ritchie, associate professor of organ and theory, will be present commentaries on the compositions they will play. Faulkner will begin the program by playing the romantic French organ composition, "Final," from Symphony No. 1 by Louis Vierrte. The fast, lively piece was written during the late 19th century when composers were using symphonic techniques for writing organ music, Faulkner said. He will also play. an early 18th century composition, "Partita on 'Sei Gegruesset'," by J.S. Bach. Allen, associate professor of economics at UN L has been named to the President's Council on Wage and Price Stability. Allen, who has taught at UN-L since 1968, began work June 9 in Washington, D.C., and wiil continue with the Council until June 20, 1 976. He will be independently planning and organizing most phases of the Council's monitoring responsibilities, which include reviewing industrial activities that contribute to inflation or unnecessarily limit competition. His wife, Merna, and sons, Michael, Edward and Jeffrey, also will spend the year in the nation's capital. Physics teaching grant given A $54,120 grant to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for a workshop to develop a personalized system of instruction, in calculus-based physics has been announced by the National Science Foundation' (NSF). The director of the workshop project will be Robert G. Fuller. UN-L associate professor of physics. Fuller said the workshop will be held in Boulder, Colo., in lata June. It will bring together 15 outstanding physics educators experienced in the use of the Keller plan for personalized calculus-based physics instruction. From study units already written by the educators, a set of materials to cover an entire course will be developed. The materials will include at least 45 study units including a study guide, three equivalent forms of a mastery test and a grading key for tutors. The materials will enable any physics department to teach a Keller plan general physics . course without extensive commitments of development time being made on the part of thir staff members. Yost, has been elected as-Fellow in the prestigious Royal Historical Society of Great Britian. Fellows in the Society are elected by its Council on the basis of the distinction they have achieved in historical studies, Yost, a member of the UN-L faculty since 1967, is vice chairman of the history department and a member of the Executive Committee of the Arts and Sciences College. His research specialty is this history of religion and ethics, particularly in lata medieval and early modern Europe. He has written numerous articles in this area of English and German history. The Royal Historical Society is the principal organization representing English historical scholarship, both in the area of teaching and research. The Society is housed in University College, London, and Fellows have access to the resources of that institution. Yost is a member of many professional organizations in the history field and is vice president of the University of Nebraska Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, national scholastic honor society in the arts and sciences.
