RHA court convenes $ym&fca Act Just like your dream. Timeless, naaimty me mutiny of a thousand stars. Reflecting a heritage of love as old as time. As young as the dawn. . Fleurette by Orange Blossom. or election dispute i. J 1 A Attcl a "nt Period of two years, the Residence Hall Association (RHA) court convened Thursday night to establish its rules and procedures. The revival of the court was caused by an appeal by Ron Hutchinson, whose complaint that he was denied the opportunity -to vote in the RHA elections March 31 was denied by the RHA election commission. Election ballots were misplaced at Cather-Pound-Neihardt Residence Center (CPN) for one hour, and Hutchinson claimed that that was the only time his schedule allowed him to vote. The court will rule on Hutchinson's appeal and then will remain in operation for the 1975-76 school year. Doug Nelson, chairman of the Harper Hall Conduct and Judicial Board, was elected Chief Justice at the April 10 RHA meeting. , Eleven of the thirteen court members, representatives from each dorm government, were present at the Thursday night meeting in which the court rules were established. Anyone wishing to make an appeal to the court must submit a brief written description of their case to the Chief Justice, along with a list of prospective witnesses. The Chief Justice will then set the date of the proceedings, to be within ten days. The Chief Justice will, notify court members and the parties involved in the dispute, as well as making a public announcement of the date, time and place of the meeting. . When the court convenes, the letter will be read to the court and a vote will be taken to determine whether the court will consider the case. The case will be dismissed only if there is a unanimous vote to do so. When the proceedings begin, the petitioner and his opponent will be allowed to question and cross-examine witnesses, after which the court may ask questions and audience members may make comments. After closing statements by both parties, the court will retire to deliberate in private, and then will take a roll-call vote, which will be published in the RHA minutes. . The petitioner and his opponent will be notified of the courts decision in a written opinion, which will also be entered in the RHA minutes. 31 Km jR Two . summer reading courses, Novel & Short Story (200Ac) and Afro-American Literature (244c), are now open to a limited number of students on a first come, first served basis.
