ASUN supports total bus financing The ASUN Senate Wednesday recommended, total university financial support for the inter-campus bus system. A resolution supporting such a change passed with very little discussion by a vote of 310. The proposal was the primary option proposed to UNL Chancellor James Zumberge by the Council on Student Life (CSL) Ad Hoc Bus Committee. The resolution, submitted by Sens. Dennis Burson and Brian Schellpeper, pointed to the problems of Last Campus students who must take classes on the City Campus. "The cost cannot be the responsibility of consumers since the decision to . split the campuses was made years ago by the management." the resolution stated. "Likewise the fact that housing is separated on the two campuses is no fault of the students." x By temporarily suspending a section of the senate rules, 4he senate also gave the executives the power to make expenditures greater than S50 during the summer. Some objections were raised about taking away the accountabiltjy of the senate. "It just goes to the question olvhcthcr you trust uor not." Jim Say. ASUN president, said. "There's nothing really pressing now that can't be done during the regular year. But there are some tilings that can only be taken care of in the summer." He cited summer letters to incoming freshmen as an example of something that can only be done in the summer which requires more than S50 in expenditures. The letters atteinpt to explain the structure and purpose of ASUN. Second Vice President Paul Morrison announced that interviews for senate appointed committees will be held on Saturday and Sunday. Potential, appointees not available foi the weekend interviews will be allowed to appear before selection committees on Tuesday and Thursday. As of Wednesday night, only 30 people had applied for the nearly MO positions that are open, according to First Vice President Mary Jenkins. daiu Editor-in-chief: Wes Aibers.
