The Homestead Institute is an informal Lincoln counseling seryjce at 1525 A St. Collins called the therapy, "a return to who we are or the discovery of who we are" and a "journey to the center of the self." She said that women go through a three-step socialization process. The first phase of the process is the "Sleeping Beauty," phase. During this phase, Collins said, a woman often doesn't realize she has a problem. The second phase is the realization of the problem and the third is the planning and action to solve the problem, Collins said. Most of the therapy work done by the Homestead Institute is done with groups. The purpose of the groups, Collins said, is to get women to stop turning blame inward. Collins said that women form groups easily and much easier than men.
