mm Senate approves $40,435 budget The proposed $40,435 ASUN budget was approved Wednesday , night by the ASUN Senate after the smallest amount of discussion about a budget in recent years, according to ASUN President Ron A maximum of $2000 was approved for use by next year s administration for certain programming expenses, in addition to the "hard-line" figures in the budget, in a Clingenpeel-Fees Allocation Board (FAB) compromise which will allow the new administration some programming decisions. The approved budget, which includes fixed costs and some programming expenses, will now go before an FAB sub-committee for investigation and approval, according to Clingenpeel. The Student Legal Services Center and salary expenses make up the bulk of the budget, accounting for $15,853 and $10,033 respectively. Office expenses, grouped in the budget for the first time, account for $4,400 of the total. Other major expense headings include: $1,550 for trie electoral commission, $1,116 for use by the 1976-77 administration which will assume office before the 1975-76 fiscal year ends, $1000 for Senate expenses, $2,775 for communication, $1,010 for government liaison, $100 for notary publics, $150 for the Environmental Task Force, $1,000 for student services, $1,066 for summer salaries for ASUN executives and $400 for the education committee. Four areas, in which funds could be cut if necessary, were included in the budget package. Clingenpeel also said he learned Wednesday that three-part-time secretarial salaries might be turned over to the work study program, for an additional savings of $3,800. Clingenpeel credited the rapid acceptance of the budget to the new presentation format. The format cut much of the paper and the lengthy explanations out of the proposal, he said. In other action, former student Bob Brehm asked for a "sense of the Senate" resolution calling for the electoral commission to grant an extension so ASUN candidates might change party affiliation or how their name will appear on the ballot. Sen. Doug Voegler opposed the morion, saying, "If you jump into bed with one of these parties, then you should sleep with it." The motion was defeated, prompting Sen. John Vihstadt to claim "fascism triumphs." The electoral commission still has the option to decide whether or not it can legally grant an extension. doily nebfosIcQO Editor-in-chief: Wes Albers.
