PEKING OPERA
Directed by Tzen Fan
Produced by the Peking Film Studio
32 minutes 1968 China
A delightful half hour of ballet acrobatic selected from an
actual performance of the Peking Opera, which shows
warriors of olden times in conflict, acvancing and
retreating, battling, and the historic outcome. More than
stunts of skill and agility, this highly developed and
sophisticated dance and music, which is the theatre of
China, is pervaded by a sense of centuries, bringing back to
life men and events which we have only a mythic
awareness.
