Allan Gricsemer, museum coordinator of educational activities, said the swamp will be part of a new gallery display area in the museum. The new gallery, to be located in the northeast corner of the museum's main floor, will hold six displays of geological periods from 600 million years ago to the last 70 million years. Gricsemer said the first of these displays, containing vertabrate fossils which the museum has on display in other areas of the museum, as well as new invertebrate fossils, is expected to be ready for viewing sometime this spring. The gallery is 40 feet deep and 25 feet wide. The swamp will be 8 feet deep and I0 feet across. The gallery is being paid for by donations from former NU geology professor E.F. Schramm. Griesemer said the present dinosaur gallery is closed for refurbishing and will reopen April 1. The room is being remodeled so the dinosaurs may be more easily viewed. He said the walls of the room are being decorated to give the viewer an impression of the environmental setting in which the dinosaurs lived. Remodeling is also being done in a classroom located on the second floor. The walls are being painted and tiles which have been on Vhe floors since the building was constructed in 1928 are being replaced.
