The ASUN Senate went on record Wednesday night as supporting any decision by Chancellor James Zumberge which would reduce the number of complimentary Cornhusker football tickets given to government officials and the media. , The Senate approved the resolution over the objections of ASUN President Ron Clingenpeel. The resolution cited loss of revenue to the University as the reason for a reduction of free tickets and claimed that merely offering tickets at market price would achieve the desired good will, considering the difficulty of obtaining tickets. Clingenpeel told the senate that the present practice of complimentary tickets promoted good will towards the University. "Although there is still some question as to how many tickets student regents will get, if any, just think what kind of lobbying impact a student regent could have if he had tickets to give away," Clingenpeel said. Clingenpeel also presented next year's proposed budget of "hard line expenses to tne senate for' consideration at next week's meeting. "I don't think it's fair that I propose the budget for the new administration," Clingenpeel said, "but, because the elctoral rules were not done in time, the Fees Allocation Board (FAB) would not grant an extension for the submission of the ASUN budget past March 5." The proposed budget represents an increase of five to seven per cent over last year's budget, due to cost-of-living increases, according to Clingenpeel. Nearly $23,200 has been proposed for operating expenses including salaries and certain office costs. In other business, , the Constitutions Committee reported on possible discriminatory clauses in the constitution of the Chinese Student Association. According to CSL guidelines, campus organizations may not exclude any student from membership for racial, ethnic or national origin reasons. The Chinese Student Association allows non-Chinese students to be associate members only, lacking voting rights and the ability to hold office. Snowball fight repair bill $726 The Office of University Housing has received estimated damages to Cather and Neihardt Cather-Found-Neihardt Residence Hall Complex: caused during a snowball fight February 17. Four students were injured and 28 windows broken. Joe Zannini, assistant director of housing for maintenance operations, said Monday the lowest estimate for replacing .'8 of the windows is S726. Housing maintenance will replace 10 other windows and will repair or replace screens. Richard Armstrong, director of housing, said the money will come from the housing office's income-board and room payments. The university has property insurance on residence halls, but glass is not covered, he said. The Lincoln Police Department originally estimated damages to Cather and Heihardt residence halls at $7,000, but a UNL maintenance manager estimated damages between M.500 and $2,000.
