$ 1 increase to polls By Ivy RHA Thursday voted to put a referendum ballot in all residence hall food service buildings Tuesday on its proposed $1 increase in tuition. The proposal, which was adopted without a quorum vote, would give 50 cents of the $1 to RHA and 50 cents tq the dorm governments. The two questions on the ballots will be whether the voter is returning to the dorm in 1975-76 and whether he is in favor of the increase. For the proposal to pass, two tnirds of those students returning to the dorms next year must approve. Evensen said that although there wasn't a quorum at the meeting, a motion can pass. If someone opposes the action, Evensen said, they can come to the next meeting of RHA to voice their complaint. He added that there has been some question about what RHA plans to do with the money it would get. Evensen said because he will not be RHA president next year, he cannot say precisely what will be done with the money. But, he said, the money would surely be used to continue and, maybe increase, the publication of Full Cycle, the RHA newsletter. The money also would be used for RHA Week programming. Evensen said RHA means more than just alcohol and visitation. Primarily, he said, RHA represents the dorm governments to the administration. One of the reasons that RHA has not been more effective, according to Evensen, is that students don't come to RHA with their complaints. As an example, he said, students dissatisfied with food service complain to the person behind the counter rather than coming to RHA. In other business, RHA representatives set up a committee to evaluate the current Housing Office policy on temporary housing. Evensen said there were cases this year where freshmen were temporarily put on floors, causing students to "be in limbo." Evensen also said Richard Armstrong, director of the Housing Office, was pleased that students responded to his suggestions that they contact him about money-saving ideas. Joe Eisenberg suggested to Armstrong that the light switches in the dorm rooms be independent, so that not more than one light is turned on at a time. If accepted, Evensen said, the idea could save several thousand dollars. Evensen added that a typographical error in the last issue of Full Cycle made it appear that RHA was sponsoring only 10 faculty student meals a year when it should have read 10 a week.
