"I feel that I can help people best in this way." In a day when women are turning to professional careers for personal and financial reasons, the growing number of women entering medical fields is not so highly questioned, according to Richard Bradley, dean of the College of Dentistry. Why would a woman ever want to become a dentist? According to freshman dental student Donna Howe, dentistry is a "fantastic" profersion for a woman to go into. "The opportunities for a woman are good because people seem to feel more comfortable with them, especially chil dren," Howe said. "Besides this, there aren't a lot of women practicing dentistry in the United States as compared with Europe, so the field is relatively open," she said. Hogan, who will' graduate from the dental college in May, is especially pleased with Nebraska's program. "They aren't afraid to be progressive here. They're always trying new things." she. said. "The teacher-student ratio is good." When asked how much importance the financial rewards of a medical career held in the motivation of pursuing such a life, both women agreed it was important. rf Li Li iaJ LJi m. tujf . j feH lV.
