"academic common market''' is suggested so, that a student from any of the five states would have in-state, resident status and not be charged out-of-state tuition if he wishes to attend a university outside his own state. Relationships with other higher edu cation institutions within Nebraska should be improved and expanded, according to the report. Specifically, NU should seek coordination with state and community technical colleges by ex changing professors, for instance. In addition, contributions to NU must be actively sought, the report suggests. "The University's present reputation of quality teaching, public service and research could not have been achieved, nor can it continue to be sustained, without reliance upon such private sources of support." The University Foundation, friends of NU and corporations are identified in the report as principal sources of contributions which must continue. UNO, Medical Center plans During this period, the University of Nebraska at Omaha "will place particu lar emphasis in developing the social and behavioral sciences and various . related professions, urban ecology arid the fine and performing arts," accord- ing to the report. . : The University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha will train doctors and technicians able to serve in rural areas, expand nursing programs and improve ; specialized health care. ; The report assumes that enrollment of traditional college age students will remain stable. But enrollment of women, minority persons, students over ; 25 years old and off-campus students I probably will increase. . . ' Over the five-year period the college ' age population (18 to 22 year olds) will increase from 5 to 10 percent, according ' to the 1973 Nebraska School Census.
