While in Israel, the students and Professor Chesnin and his wife will hear lectures by the Volcani Center staff on soils and land use, oiitnate and irrigation, soil salinity problems, water policy, plant nutrition, dry land farming and irrigated farming. Field trips will be made, to the Wine Cellars at Rishon L'Zion; Hebrew University and the Weizman Institute; of Science; Na'an, where a factory for irrigation appliances, experimental plots and a kibbutz are located; Jerusalem; Bethlehem; the Standards Institute in Tel Aviv where irrigation appliances are located; Caesarea; Kfar Hayarok; Haifa; Acre; Jerico; Ein Feshcha; Ein Gedi; Massada; Sedom; Beersheba; Avdat, where ancient irrigation practices will be observed; Mashavei, where a desalinization plant is located and Kibbutz Sa'ad, where a remote control irrigation system is located.
