In former years a person could lay a muff on the table and fee! confident that while present in the flesh it would remain there. Not so now, however, Muffs, handker chiefs and even petticoats take mysterious flights the instant after the owner's back is turned, while pocket books must be concealed as carefully as if on the "Bowery." The authorities are striving to find the guilty parties and are closely shadowing two or three suspects. In a short time they will no doubt land the kleptomaniacs and extricate them from college. Meanwhile all girls are urged to keep their valuables and necessary clothing locked up. To any of the "Kleptos" who may read this, we give warning. You haven't been caught yet but "there's a first time for everything." daily nebraskan Editor-in-chief: Jane Owens. News Editor: Wes Albers. Managing Editor: Dave Madsen. Fresh Seeds Available at pi Queen may be disposed The long-held UNL tra dition of having a home coming queen may soon be deposed, or even dis posed of for good. According to an article in The Omaha World Herald yesterday, stu dents at UNL may have elected the school's last homecoming queen. In the article, Ken Bader, vice-chancellor of academic affairs ques tioned whether UNL stu dents feel the election of a homecoming queen is worthwhile. "I just don't think that the idea, of a queen appeals to the student body as a whole," he said. Much of the controversy surrounding the home coming queen .began when Gary Brantz, a junior from Council Bluffs, was elected. Brantz received the most votes in the election, but was disqualified because . of alleged "campaign ir regularities." After ap pealing to the Student Court, where he was confirmed as homecoming queen, he immediately re turned the title to the reigning queen, Chris Evans. Ron Clmgenpee!, ASUN president also spoke in favor of discontinuing the contest or updating the rules. Support of the contest has been withdrawn by Tassels, a sponsoring or ganization. According to Carolyn Grice, Tassels' president, the contest is too expensive for Tassels Several proposals, jsuch as a homecoming tie-in with Master's Week, are being considered. ASUN will make the final de cision after considering student opinions. calendar Monday 10:30 a.m. Mini University "The American Familv" - Neb raska Union 12:30 p rn.
