Library books located in an East Campus library will
now be delivered to a City Campus library for City
Campus students, and vice versa, Dean Waddel,
associate dean of libraries, said Tuesday.
Waddel said the new service was instituted so
students could utilize the entire UNL library system.
The number of UNL library volumes outgrew Love
Library several years ago, Waddel said, causing
personnel to transfer certain topics to other buildings
on both campuses.
Th3 three locations of these books are Love Library,
Nebraska Hall, and the C.Y. Thompsen Library on East
Campus. Books relating to certain fields are also
located in special interest libraries on campus.
Waddel said the service was formerly available to
faculty members, but is now available to any UNL
student. The only books allowed to be delivered
through the service are those normally circulated, he
said, not including reserve and rare, books and
periodicals. ,
Books at one City Campus library will not be
delivered to another City Campus library either, he
said.
Although Love Library is the only location having a
complete card catalogue on all books in the UNL Library
system, East Campus students may see if the book they
need is in the system by calling the Love Library
information desk, 472-2518.
To use the delivery service, students should go to the
library where they would like the book delivered and
complete a borrower's card.
For City Campus students to have a book delivered
from East Campus by 1 p.m., they should fill out a card
on a previous day or by 8 a.m. that day. For East
Campus students to have a book delivered from City
Campus by 1 p.m., they should fill out a card by 2 p.m.
of the previous day.
A student can renew the book at the library where he
received it, and they will have the book renewed at the
other library.
Waddel said the new service is expected to become
even more important when the inflation situation
becomes crucial and less money may be available for
