Constable, Gericault in art film "p The fifth Install Clark s most recent film series, "Ro mantic versus Classic Art," is showing this weekend at the Sheldon Film Theater. This weekend's offering will deal with painters John Constable and Theodore Gericault. - Constable, an English romantic artist, found his inspiration in nature, which he regarded with an almost religious awe. Unlike fellow romantic William Turner, who saw nature as a force both violent and destructive, Constable saw her as the source of all good. Often referred to an tha firct mnrforn naintAr Hnnstahle anticipated by nearly half a century the discovery of the creative uses of light. Gericault, on the other hand, typified all that was dark and seamy about romanticism. Gericault considered Na ture perverse and destructive. Ironical ly, he died of a mysterious illness at 33. Directed by George Romero and featuring a cast of nobodies, this low budget thriller was produced under obscure auspices. The film gained its reputation , as an underground cult sensation and has since undertaken a meteorical rise to above-ground cult status. The film's eerily made-up zombies and somewhat contrived plotlines make it almost a throwback to the. '40s, although certainly much more explicit in its horror. Showings are at 3, 7 and 9 p.m. at the Sheldon Auditorium tonight and Saturday. A short feature entitled "Annabel Lee," narrated by Vincent Price also will be shown. Glee clubs present 'Big Sing' tonight A "Big Sing" will be presented by three glee clubs from UNL and Kansas State tonight at 8 p.m., in Kimball Recital Hall.
