RHA to set
priorities
and goals
I., .
The goals and purposes of the UNL Residence
Hall Association (RHA) were discussed at their
meeting Thursday night in Piper Residence Hall.
Tim Evensen, president, said RHA "has a lot of
potential," but that its priorities need to be
reevaluated and restated, so the UNL student can
identify with the organization and better use it.
The twenty students present discussed RHA's
existence, purpose and functions with Ken
Swerdlow, assistant director of housing, and Glen
Schumann, coordinator for the residence hall
administration.
RHA's next meeting they will include a
discussion of organization's priorities, Evensen
said.
The priorities discussed at Thursday's meeting
included increasing communication between the
housing office and residents and between the
individual residence halls.

student problems brought before them, by
channeling the problem to the proper organization
or settling the problem themselves.
Another priority considered was that RHA
should provide services to residents including
receiving complaints, supplying appliances and
sponsoring social functions.
Common Cause member Larry Doerr spoke to
RHA concerning this group, a citizen lobbying
organization with 500 members in the first
congressional district. He said he would gladly
speak to any group of residents concerning the
organization.
Dennis Ellermeier, student assistant for sixth
floor Gather Hall, speke to RHA concerning a
forthcoming proposal about the repair and
replacement of pianos in the residence halls.
