The haunted houses of last week have returned to their normal state. But in their wake, more than $14,000 was left to be used for charity or local organizatins. .-. Five Lincoln groups set up "haunted houses" to raise money tor charity or themselves during Halloween season. Campus Life, sponsored by KLMS radio, ran a "Scream in the Dark" house on "O" Street. According to Glen Jones, a Campus Life spokesman, the house was open for 14 nights and made $6,500 profit. The money will be used to pay the salaries of Campus Life directors, he said. "We were real pleased with the results," Jones said. "We more than doubled the number of people going through since last year." Jones said one of the reasons their house did so well is that KLMS reached the right market. "We got the junior high, high school and college students to come to ours," said Jones. KFOR and the Lincoln Jaycees also cosponsored a haunted house. Rennie Walt, a member of the Jaycees board of directors, said the haunted house didn't attract as many students as he had hoped. The "House of Terror" did, however, raise $5,000 and attract about 225 people a night, Wait said. The money will be used for a charity not yet decided upon. A Theta Xi fraternity spokesman said their haunted house raised about $600 for the Muscular Dystrophy fund during its three nights of operation. The Lincoln Community Playhouse made $1,900 during five nights of operation for their haunted house, a Playhouse spokesman said. The money will be used by the Playhouse, the spokesman said. ?. fW, Need A Haircut ?!
