Student Democrats have Increased their majori
ty over student Republicans as reported In last

Superpoll 74 results. " " r
According to this year's poll, 33 per cent of the
393 students responding to a question of party
affiliation registered Democrats. Twenty six per
cent said they we're registered Republicans, and
1 14 per cent Identified themselves as independents.
; The Independent category, however, received
a much larger response when students vere
asked: "What Is your political party preference?"
According to poll, 43 per cent of 333 students
answering the question said they preferred
Independent status.
The Democrat and Republican parties each
received only about half the support independent
status received. Only 24 per cent of the students
responded with a Republican narty preference,
end 23 per cent cf those polled said they preferred
the Democrat party.
"Overall,' how would you rate your
ersonal political view in most situations?" Of the
34 students who responded to the question, 35
per cent rated themselves as moderately liberal.
Nineteen per cent said they were middle of the
road, but 17 per cent classified themselves as
liberal.
Superpoll '74 was conducted by Community
Response, Inc. a Lincoln polling firm. The 406
students Interviewed formed a proportional
representation of students according to living
units, class lavels and age groups.
