They will be based at universities and Institutes
in New Delhi, and will be involved with field work.
Participants in the program since It was started
seven years ago have operated an optometry
clinic, worked in a school for disturbed children,
prepared an evnironmental impact study for a new
urban development, and researched urban
squatters, transportation systems, and legal aid ,
for the poor; among other assignments. .
The students are selected from graduate schools
such as agriculture, business, environmental
design, criminology, engineering, journalism,
librarianshlp, public health, social welfare, public
policy, and systems analysis.
Total per-student cost for nine months in India,
is estimated at $2,300, or slightly less for Berkeley
students. Financial aid may be available through a
student's home institution. , .
