Poetry, pottery, beer Centennial projects vary widely Wine and beer tasting, the art of motorcycle maintainance, Lenny Bruce and pottery making are among the projects students in the Centennial Educational Program (CEP) are working on this semester. The projects are proposed by students or fellows (teachers in CEP). Potter said fellows sponsor the projects which may be done individually or in groups. Nelson Potter, director of CEP, said students earn six hours credit per semester for their projects. He said "students work on a project until they get tired of it." He said most students do two projects a semester. According to Potter, this semester there are less freshmen participating In CEP, but he said upperclassmen are coming into the program. "Students who have joined CEP as sophomores heard about it during their freshman year on campus," he said. He noted there was more publicity when CEP started. "It (the publicity) has kind of died down and now students have to hear about it from each other," he said. Fylis Falk, a sophomore In CEP, said one of her projects involves going to someone's house, eating foreign food and listening to the music of that country. Sherl Petersen, sophomore, said she has just finished a project on poetry. Peterson said she plans to work on a women in prison project during second semester. She has been In CEP since her freshman year. "I like the idea of (earning things I want to learn," sho said. Dave Luebbcrt, junior, has been In CEP three years. His projects this semester inc.iuu a eiudy of cCGfiCimCS." "We (members of the economic group) get together twice a week and talk about reading we've done," he said. Ha noted he is also reading and trying to understand "Gravity's Rainbow." :i'5 RIDEPEUDEt CBtrmticrc i?ir Our business h the repair of VW vehicles and tha selling of parts and accessories for Volkswagen vehicles.
