Marie's Oasis is one of a vanishing breed
of drinking establishments that once con
stituted the majority of booze. outlets jn any
city the workingman's corner bar.
The primary attraction of Marie's Oasis, as
with any bar of the genre, is the properly
relaxing atmosphere. A draw consumed in
Marie's has roughly the same effect as
attending a Merle Haggard Concert, or
driving on country back roads accompanied
by a six-pack in a '55 Chevy saloon.
?; At Marie's, there is no need to put up a
false front, since no expectations are placed
upon you, save that of honesty. You can
loosen your belt, spread your legs, guzzle
your beer and. speak your piece it's that
kind of place.

more than domestic science alone, it means the putting
into practice the theories learned, for now they have a
"practice cottage." This cottage was formerly the
superintendent's cottage, but now it has become a
place where a few girls at a time may keep house in an
ideal fashion. Of course, boys are glad to know this.
They know they will have better cooking and cozier
homes in which to spend their days."
"Convocation yesterday was as usual a decided
success. After the opening song of America, Dr. Maxey
spoke on the "Effects of the European War on the
United States." He said that in the last one hundred
years the commerce of the United States with the rest of
the world has increased about 2,000 per cent,
consequently the war can not help but effect the United
States commercially.
