professors, associate professors, assistant
professors and instructors as given in the
University of Nebraska's 1974-75 Operating
Budget, a booklet available at Love Library.
The list does not include administrators,"
deans, NU Extension Division faculty or
those faculty members not appointed before
the budget's publication last spring, included
on the list are some faculty members who left
the University since the budget's publication.
The salaries represent nine-month figures
and do not include summer school session
salaries. Those working part-time are
indicated by the letter""P".

Since last semester, members
Faculty Senate have complained- that
large differences in faculty salaries exist
among the various UNL departments.
For example, while the average salary
of a full professor in the College of Arts
and Sciences is $16,260, a full professor
in the College of Business Administra
tion receives an average salary of
$17,340. This is just one of several
salary discrepancies, according to a
Faculty Senate committee report issued
in September.
The facts speak for themselves.
Today's Daily Nebraskan further details
these disparities and points out the need
for a standard salary policy for the total
University system. '
The Faculty Senate committee has
proposed a step system where salaries
would be determined by a teacher's
merit and service, not by such-things as
the amount of political clout a depart
ment chairman has.
We urge that a standard salary policy
be enforced immediately. A system
where an instructor ,r one department
earns more than an associate professor
in another department is grossly unjust.
