For example, while the average salary of a full professor in the College of Arts and Sciences is $16,260, a full professor in the College of Business Administra tion receives an average salary of $17,340. This is just one of several salary discrepancies, according to a Faculty Senate committee report issued in September. The facts speak for themselves. Today's Daily Nebraskan further details these disparities and points out the need for a standard salary policy for the total University system. ' The Faculty Senate committee has proposed a step system where salaries would be determined by a teacher's merit and service, not by such-things as the amount of political clout a depart ment chairman has. We urge that a standard salary policy be enforced immediately. A system where an instructor ,r one department earns more than an associate professor in another department is grossly unjust.
