With the Bicentennial coming, most

? 200-year history with pride io our
accomplishments. The drama company
presenting '"The Boston Tea Party"
here tonight, however, is looking back
on our history and laughing at our
follies.
In their vaudeville-style show, the
four-member troupe will reflect the
great American heritage with a little
less reverence than usually is found in
high school history books.
Helentless satire permeates the
songs, dances and vignettes that trace
the nation's more laughable moments,
from the Revolution to Watergate.
True to the traditions of satire, the
humorous sketches contain serious
political and social comment, the
original material is laced with contribu
tions from contemporary satirists Jules
Feiffer, Phillip Roth and Art Buchwald.
Typical of the show's sketches are
"The Political Speech a cliche-ridden
collection of politically expedient catch
phrases," "Lost in the Rosemary
Woods an explanation of the 18
minute tape gap," and "Washington
Crossing the Delaware. ' '
Among the musical numbers are
"Plymouth Rock" and "Oratoria
Nixonia."
Honoring the principle of participa
tory democracy, the company elicits
audience participation as the press in
press conferences, as the constituency
in elections and as the stimulus for the
improvisational sections of the play.
As part of their stay here, the
company also will give a workshop in
improvisational drama at 3:30 p.m.
today in the Temple Bldg. The workshop
is open to all interested persons.
"The Boston Tea Party" will be
presented at 8 p.m. in thd Nebraska
Union Centennial room. Tickets are
$1 .50 at the Union South Desk and at the
door. The event, second in a series
examining American Art Heritage, is
sponsored by the Union Contemporary
Arts Committee.
