For further information about volunteer service
contact the Student Volunteer Service office 220
Nebraska Union, phone 472-2486. According to the
office, volunteers are needed in the following areas.
1. Volunteers are needed to read for visually
" impaired individuals. One of the individuals needing
assistance is working in the area of Legal Aid.
2. Two volunteers are needed with the abililty to
speak Spanish. One is needed to work with a visually
impaired student. Another is needed with a desire and
interest in working with junior high students in second
year Spanish as a teacher's aide.
3. A volunteer is needed to teach the wife or a
visually impaired husband to drive.
4. A volunteer is needed to work with activities in tne
Jail Visitation Program. , . .. .
5. A volunteer is needed to lead a junior high or
senior high group of girls or boys interested in cooking
or sewing. . . ..
Volunteers are also needed in other areas, including:
youth and recreation, child care, the elderly, mental
retardation, mental health and the handicapped,
according to the Student Volunteer Service.
The tournament is this Sunday, Sept
ember 15 at 2:00 p.m. We invite all
beginning and amateur putt-putters to
come. The entry fee is $3.00 and half of
that is donated to Cystic Fibrosis. There
is a free practice session starting at
10:00 a.m. And there's loads of prizes to
be given away - cases of Coke, Burger
King Whoppers, putters, Putt-Putt
season passes, movie passes PLUS a
free game pass to all contestants. You
might be the lucky winner of the $115
ten-speed. Come out and have fun
playing Putt-Putt you'll be helping tci
support Cystic Fibrosis research. tV
