"At Kansas, we were a real close-knit
team. We did a lot of things together."

Not Only the pool, but also the
emphasis on football1 -at UNL has hurt
swimming and other minor sports,
DiBiase said. More money for minor
sports would improveithe overall quality
of the athletic program, he added. Last
vear. UNL finished seventh in the Big 8
Ali-Sports Standings.,
"They should have had the facility
(new fieidhouse) five or ten years
earlier' DiBiase said.
He decided to go to Kansas partly
because it was recommended by his
high school coach at Omaha Westside.
The swimming and academic programs
were fine, he said,! but-DiBiase. felt
alienated socially. For example, on the
aay ora rsansas noma football game last
year; he stayed in hss room and watched
the UNL-UCLA game on TV.
"I've always been; a.Comhusker at
Heart; ' ' he said. "Now I'm happy. "
' When DiBiase was a junior in high

to be a ruptured lung. He kept going,
