Among the most crucial problems confronting them was to define the powers and responsibilities of the presidency. An authentic fully costumed dramatic re-creation of the original debates on the presidency has been paired with a contemporary re-examination for the special program, "Shall We Have A King?" The 90-minute broadcast will be seen Thursday, June 20, at 7 p.m. on stations of the Nebraska ETV Network. The initial question posed is "Has the office of the presidency become more powerful than the founding fathers intended it to be?" The NETV viewer will see that some of the same problems that confronted the country in 1787 confront the nation today and some of the same issues are still being debated. Wednesday, June 19, at 7 p.m., the Nebraska ETV Network presents Wiseman's a ward-winning "Juvenile Court." The film takes a probing look at the tension-filled relations between children in trouble and the adults responsible for employing a system of laws to decide their futures. Viewers witness the arrests and confrontations of the offenders, their families, and the army of social workers, probation officers, and psychiatrists. This special three-hour program is presented in two segments." The first is the two hour and 20-minute film "Juvenile Court." The second segment, "Fred Wiseman Filmmaker," features a discussion by Lincoln attorneys, a social worker and members of the film unit of the Nebraska ETV Network. The discussion touches such su b j ects as plea-bargaining, how Wiseman picks a location for this type of film and the technical aspects of filming such a documentary. In a light vein NETV presents a documentary on cowboys. George Salisbury, Steve Adams and Ike Herold -they are the cowboys of the 70' s, working with sheep and cattle twelve hours a day, mending fences, breaking horses, and occasionally relaxing in town and at rodeos. He is condemned for mushroom theft and is doomed to death in the arsna. But a lion named Alexander and a cast of 75 fourth graders save Androcles. The cast includes William Reeder as Androcles, William Oberholzer as Alexander Lion and Michael Rocchio as King Anthos. In presenting controversial subjects ETV uses a debate format to answer the questions. Should the United States claim jurisdiction over fisheries to a limit of 200 miles off U.S. shores? Should Congress act to support American deep sea mining operations? These two controversial questions are debated on a special program "The Law of the Sea" on the "Advocates" series, Sunday, June 16, at 3 p.m. on the Nebraska ETV Network. The program repeats Thursday, June 20, at 8:30 p.m. and Friday, June 21, at 2 p.m. This two-hour special program coincides with the opening of the United Nations Law of the Sea Conference in Caracas, Venezuela. The Advocates' purpose in debating these issues is to call attention to the fact that 70 percent of the earth's surface is ungoverned by law and to note the beginning of the Law of the Sea Conference in Caracas where, after years of preparatory meetings, all the nations of the U.N. will come together to deal with what many have called the most important set of problems for the next 50 years.
