"I feel you have acted in a very cowardly and unwise way," said Ron Kurtenbach of the Lincoln Gazette, a counterculture newspaper. Kurtenbach contended that the senate had "intellectually prostituted" itself in avoiding endorsing the impeachment of President Nixon. ASUN Senators Art Alexander and John Vihstadt said that they could not approve of the resolution because their constituents did not favor impeachment. . Vihstadt said that as a senator, they are a very small part of the student population and should not be able to approve of the resolution without considering the attitudes of their constituents. "I think it is shoddy that the senate was not able to take a political stand and that they didn't consider the issue on its merit," said ASUN Second Vice President David Howlett Judy Visty, appointee for ASUN on the Chancellor's Committee on Women's Intercoliegaite Athletics reported to the senate that the U.S. Health, Education, and Welfare Dept. (HEW) could not discriminate against women in intercollegiate athletics and must monetarily support women's programs. A resolution endorsing this issue and supporting the adoption of the Education Amendments Act, and Title IX was passed. This act and Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in curriculum, activities, admission policies and financial aid by an educational institution. A resolution reminding ali students that May 3 is the deadline for registering to vote in the May 14 Nebraska primary election was also passed. It was also decided that the football migration game would be with the University of Colorado at Boulder on November 2.
