-w jr .'-4 '? '"'-''"eif ww w- fe , o lha editor Students win war Dear editor, I understand that the real issue being voted down in the Unicameral is not drinking per se, it's the idea of students having the audacity to initiate legislation to correct pompous regents' God-like powers, i Students, just remember this is only a battle you've lost. You've won the war! Now, people recognize you as a voting power and you do have a big voice. Go back to the drawing board and remember the names of the senators who voted against you. Then actively support their opposition at the next election, Then, next time, state senators won't be so quick to deny the young people. Keep on pushing. Like I said, you've won the war. LenWalle Corny Dear editor, The Nebraska Legislature missed a rare opportunity by decidina io voie for the honey bee as our state insect, rather than to choose something more appropriately associated with the home of the Cornhuskers. Surely, a' better choice would have been the corn borer. The opportunities for adapting this to our Big Red entourage of showbiz features at home games would be enormous. After every touchdown our new android talisman, who was conceived in Disneyland and dedicated to the proposition that Nebraska football is ; big business, could stagger over to a gigantic cannon (the Sacred Canon) in the shape of a corncob, pull the cord, and a cheerleader in the costume of a corn borer would be violently expelled in a cloud of red smoke. National television viewers would love it. The only major logistic problem would be to find a cheerleader willing to pose as a corn borer and who is also of the proper caliber for the job. Paul A. Johnsgard Tequila mado clear Dear editor, Please allow me to make a correction in the "Tooth Picks" column headlined, "f mere alcohol doesn't thrill you at all..." by Karen ' Richardson and Ron Sindelar (Daily Nebraskan, April 22.) Tequila is an alcoholic beverage obtained by distillation of the fermented century plant. Agave tequiliana, and not mescal. Mescal is another name for pjyote or Lophophora williamsit, from which mescaline is obtained. However, Mescal is the name of another alcoholic beverage which also can be obtained from this Agave species. Mescal is not a synonym for the Agave plant, and tequila is not obtained from mescal. I hope this clarifies the source of tequila. Beautify Brace S J Stohs Dear editor. Since I work in Brace Lab every day, I like to have the building and landscape look as nice as possible. However the Art Dept. has decided to display their "sculptures" to the world. I do enjoy art, but parts of old tires stuck in the ground, a wall from a wooden shack, cement castings, etc., lack imagination, creativity and esthetic appeal. Even so, this is only temporary and is not as bad as the bomb shelter being constructed south of Brace. Let's try to beautify the campus instead of deface it. Dale Montgomery Bleeding heart Dear editor, ' My heart absolutely bleeds for the poor Law College faculty. Their lowest paid assistant professor only makes $2,000 more than I do, and I was hoping for a $1,000 raise when my promotion to full professor takes effect in August. And struggling Harvey Perlman, who needs a secretary, simply could adapt to my standard of living and hire a damn good one with the $7,150 left from his salary. Makes one wonder if the problem with the law faculty is not that they're underpaid but perhapT overpaid. Makes one also wonder if the problem with the rest of the University's faculty is not that my salary is so low but that it is rather typical.
