AS UN denies funds i for dorm sai?a oaf7 !n their second attempt this year, Abel-Sandoz Residence Halls residents failed to squeeze funds for a sauna room out of the, ASUN Senate. Kathy Konopasek and Mike Herrig appeared before the senate last week to request money to build a sauna room at the residence halls. They had presented the same proposal last semester and were turned down. Although they did not specify an exact amount, Herrig told the senate that they needed about $400 to begin construction. Some funds have been raised through the profits of a game room at the residence halls. The cost of the sauna would be $1,324, he said. If the senate would provide the funds, the sauna would be available for use by atl students, he Said. Only 'Abel-Sa!hdoz residents would be able to use it however, if the senate did not contribute, he said. , He told Herrig and Konopasek that he did not think that the sauna would benefit most students, but primarily Abel-Sandoz residents, even though the sauna would be open to all. He then suggested that the Abel-Sandoz Residence Assoc. borrow the money from ASUN. Herrig replied he had not been empowered by the association to accept a loan. In a prepared statement, ASUN Sen. Steve Shaneyfelt said: "I must object to the preposterous idea o financing a sauna room. A sauna room, indeed! Think of the picture, my friends-warm, sweaty male and female bodies lying close together in the naked heat; yes, closed in a 6-by-8 cubicle-no, it's not a dorm room I'm talking about, but a sauna. Must I remind you what heat h equated with? I personally think that college students are close enough to the fires of hell that a sauna isn't needed." Crossword Puzzle ACROSS 1. Mark of . healing j.
