Skillet
dishes
satisfy
lazy cooks
Today we have chosen two main dishes that can be
easily prepared in a skillet. These are ideal for cooks like
ourselves-lazy. Skillet dinners can be complete meals and
they leave little cleanup. The leftovers can be refrigerated
and reheated with a minimal amount of work.
Electric skillets work best, but anv heavy skillet with a
tioht-fitting lid can be used on the stove. When reheating,
any liqht pot or pan can be used, adding a small amount of
milk or water.
HUNGARIAN GOULASH
2 lbs. hamburger or ttew meat
14 c. shortening
1 c. chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
14 flour
3 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. salt
1 28 oz, can tomatoes
1 c. sour cream
noodles
In a large skillet, brown the meat in the shortening.
Reduce the heat; add chopped onion and garlic. Cook until
onion is tender, but not brown. Blend in flour, paprika,
pepper and salt.
Add 'tomatoes. Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally
till the meat is tender, 1 to 1-14 hours. Stir in the sour
cream. Serve at once over hot buttered noodles. Makes 8
servings.

HAMBURGER STROGANOFF
1 c. chopped onions
1 Tbup. fat
1 lb. ground beef or stew meat
3 c. of medium noodles
3 c. tomato juica
1 tsp. salt
112 tsp. celery salt
Dash of pepper
2 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce
14 c. chopped green pepper
1 c. dairy sour cream
1 small can sliced mushrooms
Cook onion in hot fat until tender, not brown. Add beef
and brown lightly. Place uncooked noodles in layer over
meat, then pour tomato juice and seasonings in. Bring to a
boil, cover and simmer over low heat for 20 minutes. Add

sour cream and mushrooms and heat to just boiling. Top
with green pepper rings. Makes 6 servings. .

experimentation. Anything you want to add, substitute or .
delete generally works out well.
